Washington State Travel Tip

Whether arriving by sea, rail, bus, bike or automobile, visitors are always
welcome in the charming seaside community of Edmonds, voted "Puget Sound's
Friendliest City" eight years in a row. In strollable Edmonds, you'll find
sidewalk cafes, bistros, blues pubs, boutiques, coffee houses and an old
fashioned bakery. A nearby bird sanctuary, a sunken-shipwreck diving park and
fishing pier provide plenty to do outdoors. Ten fabulous ethnic restaurants
are within walking distance of the Washington State ferry terminal with service
to the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas.
Edmonds is an obvious favorite of travel experts like local resident Rick Steves
author of Europe Through the Back Door. It also has more than its share of
items that make travel stylish and convenient. The Savvy Traveler offers
clothing, maps, smart-packing luggage and Sound Styles carries a full line of
packable, washable clothing - just for women, and dozens of antique stores,
galleries and a history museum dot the skyline.
The Edmonds Harbor Inn near the Edmonds waterfront has recently added 33 guest
rooms for a total of 92 rooms. An added 24,000 square feet of floor area
features an inviting, two-story lobby with authentic river rock fireplace and a
roomy breakfast area where an expanded continental breakfast is served daily
from 6:30 - 10:30 AM. The warm wood tones in this country style inn simply
invite guests to "get cozy."
New sleeping rooms at the Edmonds Harbor Inn feature two-line phones with data
port, cable remote TV, individually controlled thermostat, tea kettle, coffee
maker, hair dryer, iron, refrigerator and microwave. Suites feature a cozy
sitting area with comfy overstuffed easy chairs, fireplace and Jacuzzi tubs.
Rates from $89 - $169.
