Lake Mead Highlights
Lake Mead Travel Tip
Ranger guided tours are available every Saturday from early January through
early April. During the hike you might see ravens, owls, lizards and squirrel, in warmer weather
you might see scorpions and lizards. We saw roadrunners and lots of birds. Lectures are given
every Friday on topics ranging from bird watching to fishing demonstration. Many visitors go hiking on their own in the area. ( Keep an eye out for scorpions and don't get run
over by a roadrunner, if you decide to go.) It's a six miles hike into the Bowl of Fire and takes
roughly five hours.
