Hotels & Places to Stay in Vancouver
Vancouver Travel Tip
by Lorry Patton
Places to stay are plentiful in
Vancouver
. The luxurious Four Seasons Hotel and the historic Fairmont Vancouver Hotel
sit right in the heart of the business and shopping district. The Pan Pacific
Hotel and Waterfront Fairmont, steps from the World Trade Center, overlook
the harbor where giant-size cruise ships moor. There are intimate boutique
style hotels and grand hotels so prestigious you'll be tempted to whisper
when you enter. And there are friendly motor inns that cater to the budget
conscious visitor and are close to everything.
Prior to Expo 86, it was hard to find one
Bed & Breakfast
in Vancouver or its
surroundings. Now there are dozens in the city and in the adjacent
municipalities of Delta, North Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey and Burnaby.
These outer lying districts also offer hotels and motor inns for visitors who
wish to stay away from the city yet be close to convenient public
transportation.
Motoring travelers who are passing through or staying for a couple of
weeks with a limited budget might try the string of motels on Kingsway in
Vancouver and King George highway in Surrey.
Vancouver has two hostels (Jericho and Downtown) and a YMCA, as well as
unique low-cost accommodations at the University of British Columbia.
