Wind Your Way Through Walla Walla Valley's Wineries
The Walla Walla Valley is well-known for its wine and is home to more than
30 independent wineries, many of which visitors can tour, tasting wines and
meeting winemakers. These wineries produce an impressive quality and
selection of varietals, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay,
Semillion, Syrah and Gewurztraminer. Walla Walla Valley is rapidly becoming
the hottest appellation in Washington's wine country. An award-winning
winery 13 miles west of Walla Walla in Lowden, L Ecole No. 41, is housed in
a historic school house, and visitors can see the original library and some
of the original school rooms. For more information on Washington's wines
visit www.washingtonwine.org.
Sample Locally-Grown Produce, Wines and Brews While Dining in Walla Walla
For fine dining try
Whitehouse-Crawford, where award-winning Chef Jamie Guerin and Sous Chef
Sara Guerin prepare locally-grown seasonal foods accompanied by Walla Walla
Valley wines. Or enjoy dining at the Mill Creek BrewPub, Walla Walla s own
brewery. The Mill Creek BrewPub serves seven of its own hand-crafted beers,
and offers American fare for those who want more than a tankard.
