A visitor can learn a lot about a destination just by walking or driving around. Things like the
style of architecture of buildings, the denominations of the churches, the displays in shop
windows, the words on the billboards, the absence of billboards, the clothes the pedestrians
wear, even the cars the people drive, tell a story. The landscape offers hints into the culture and
lifestyle of the residents, too. Are the hills forested or farmland, are the lakes or rivers lined with
fishers or bubbling with boaters? Are there lots of playgrounds, baseball parks, schools, or do
nightspots and outdoor cafes line the main street. Really, sightseeing is a fun way to explore the world.
