Historical Trek News
Civilization knows and has always known that it's important to preserve the past. We save
books, art, monuments, buildings and districts. Even entire regions like Charlevoix, Quebec, are
put under heritage umbrellas. We seem to be addicted to the "good old days". Billions of
dollars have been spent maintaining and creating replicas from different eras, like Williamsburg,
Pennsylvania and Dawson City, Yukon Territories. And at no time has the exercise proved
more fruitful. Just take a look at the proliferation of antique stores, the hordes of visitors in
places like St. Augustine, Florida and the streams of visitors to Cairo's great pyramids, the lines
to get a glimpse of the Mona Lisa. I'm right there, too, jostling for position. Historical treks are
one of my favorite types of adventures.
