ALLEGIANT'S MD-87 JET CHARTER FLIGHTS OPERATE TO RENO/TAHOE AND LAUGHLIN, NEVADA. RESORTS FROM CITIES ACROSS U.S.
Wednesday, May 7, 2003 : Laughlin, Nevada: Allegiant Air today announced that it has extended its agreement to operate MD-87 charter flights to Reno/Tahoe and Laughlin, Nev. for Harrah's Resorts through December 2005.
The original two-year agreement between the two companies was signed in late 2001.
Under terms of the extended agreement, Allegiant will continue to operate charter service to Laughlin six days a week with arriving passengers staying as guests at Harrah's Casino and Hotel in Laughlin. The extended agreement calls for Allegiant to operate four-day-a-week charter service to Reno/Tahoe, double the amount of charter flying Allegiant had previously been operating to Reno/Tahoe for Harrah's. Passengers arriving at Reno/Tahoe stay as guests at Harrah's Reno, Harrah's Tahoe and Harvey's Casino and Hotels.
"Allegiant Air is very pleased to continue and expand our charter program with Harrah's," said Maurice J. Gallagher, the airline's Chairman. "The Harrah's air program is core to our business, and the people of Allegiant are dedicated to ensuring the continued reliability of our operations and the focus on service that have been key to our success."
"We have found Allegiant Air to be an extremely reliable, passenger-oriented, quality air carrier," said Ginny Shanks, Harrah's Senior Vice President, Western Division. "The airline has delivered what they promised in both reliability and service, and that has made the program especially productive for Harrah's. We're pleased to continue and build on the partnership with Allegiant."
Over the last year Allegiant has operated to over 100 airports across the US for Harrah's. Selection of the cities the charters link with Reno/Tahoe and Laughlin is coordinated by Harrahs, as is the marketing and customer invitations for the flights.
Allegiant's MD-87 aircraft operated on the Harrah's flights are configured for 130 passengers with a crew of two pilots and three flight attendants. MD-87s have a range of over 2,500 miles at a cruising speed of over 500 miles per hour, which provide a non-stop capability to the Harrahs resorts from virtually any city in the US.
Allegiant's fleet includes four jet aircraft, including two 161-seat MD-83s, and two MD-87s. The airline is contracted to take delivery of an additional MD-83 later this year.
Allegiant Air is an all-jet air carrier providing both charter services and scheduled service. The airline's charter customers include Harrah's Resorts, Apple Vacations, U.S. Forest Service, collegiate athletic organizations, film production companies and corporations.
The airline provides low fare scheduled jet service linking Las Vegas with Colorado Springs, Colo.; Fresno, Calif.; and Wichita, Kan. The airline will also link Las Vegas with Des Moines, Iowa starting June 19 and with Lansing, Michigan starting July 10.
Allegiant Air is a privately owned airline founded in 1997. The airline's administrative headquarters are in Las Vegas, and operational headquarters are in Fresno.
