Nassau
Nassau, the capital city of The Bahamas, is a port of call with most ships departing Miami's
harbor approximately 200 miles away. Nassau's highlights include gambling, shopping and
beach activities.
The city is located on New Providence island, the most visited island in the Bahamas. Located in
the center of the 700 island archipelago and only 21 miles long and 7 miles wide at its widest
point, New Providence is home to 175,000 Bahamians, about 60 percent of the total population.
Besides Nassau, areas of interest to tourists in New Providence are the Cable Beach region and
Paradise Island, a small island with a big city casino, connected to New Providence with a
bridge.
