<- Back to Greece Home Page Greece is completely entwined with the sea, and boats and fishing are part of daily
life to many of the 10 million or so residents. Its crooked shoreline, with its complicated and fascinating rock formations, bays, and inlets, is a haven for sailboats and cruise ships.
The weather is hot and dry in the summer and wet and humid in
the winters. Higher elevations have had snow and although agriculture is not a viable
commodity, olive oil is still a productive export.
Tourism is constant, however, modern Greece is suffering and economically depressed. Money
for preservation and maintenance is not available and consequently places like Athens, the capital and once glorious city, are in
serious need of repair.
