Scotland is divided into three regions, the slopes and mountains of the Highlands, the fertile farmland of the Lowlands and the moderate hills of the Central Uplands. The weather is typical to Great Britain, lots of rainfall in the winter and mild and sometimes wet summers.

The history of Scotland begins 2000 years ago when the Romans invaded Britain. The Celtics (Scots) arrived from Ireland in the 5th century.

Edinburgh, the country's capital is a beautiful city built on a series of ridges. Edinburgh Castle is in the style expected of an 11th century fortress. The city is very old. Even the New Town section, with its wide boulevards, is over 200 years old.
