<- Back to Italy Home Page Italy is a warm hospitable country with enough highlights to keep a visitor mesmerized for weeks: such as the leaning tower of Pisa; the remains of Pompeii after Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD; the Tuscany countryside; the Vatican museum; Rome's Forum, Pantheon and Coliseum; the frescoes and statues; the sculptured gardens and the city squares.
Moreover, historical treasures belonging to world-renowned Italian artists and architects, such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, and Bellini fill musuems and religious buildings.
Sidewalk cafes line busy streets and traffic is noisy and wild. We had to jump in the street at one point to avoid getting hit by a car that used the sidewalk to get by a stalled vehicle.
